Create a league
In the web app, open Create, choose your group and select League. Your group must have leagues enabled and your role must allow activity creation. Organizers can use the group’s available activities and formats; group admins control which formats are available.
Set up the season
Section titled “Set up the season”- Basics: name the league, choose its activity and Play Format, and set visibility. For volleyball, choose the activity first, such as Indoor Volleyball, then its team format.
- Divisions: start with one division. Add another for a different level or eligibility within the same offering, such as Recreational and Competitive. Set team limits, roster sizes and any entry prices. Allow players to sign up without a team lets free agents enter for you to place on teams later.
- Schedule: set season dates, time zone and registration timing. Add the venue, playing days and hours, dates off and useful schedule notes. These hours describe the weekly commitment; exact match times come later.
- Competition: review the recommended weekly format or choose another available option.
- Review: check the divisions, dates, team and player fees, individual signup price, and collection timing before choosing Publish.
Use separate leagues for nights or venues that players book independently. Use divisions when players choose a level within the same league offering.
For a group running several volleyball offerings, a useful setup is:
| League | Divisions | Why it is a separate offering |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday Indoor Volleyball — Fall | Recreational, Competitive | Players book a Tuesday season at the same gym. |
| Thursday Indoor Volleyball — Fall | Intermediate | A different night is a separate commitment. |
| Sunday Sand Doubles — Fall | Open | Different activity, venue and team size. |
Players compare these in the group’s league list by season, day, venue, level and format. The season name Fall helps them browse; it does not require a separate season page. Someone playing Tuesday and Thursday signs up for each league separately. Someone entering two divisions also makes separate entries and pays each division’s price. Check for schedule conflicts before offering that combination.
Choose who can see it
Section titled “Choose who can see it”Public leagues can be viewed by anyone. Group members only requires sign-in and active group membership, even when someone has the link. Existing participants and league organizers keep access to their season. Members can find the league in the group’s offerings. Private limits access to organizers and existing participants.
An unpublished league is visible only to its organizers. After publishing, open the player page and check each division’s dates, places and entry prices.
Save and come back
Section titled “Save and come back”Choose Save draft to keep your work before everything is ready. Reopen it from Create or your group’s Activities → Drafts to continue at the saved step. A saved draft is not open for players to join.
If another tab has saved a newer version, your current choices stay on screen. Review any work you want to keep before choosing Reload saved draft; that loads the version saved in the other tab. If your organizer access changes, ask a group admin to restore it before saving again.
Free and paid leagues
Section titled “Free and paid leagues”Leave entry prices blank for a free league. Free leagues do not require payment setup. If you enable signup without a team and leave its price at $0, players can still register individually for free. Turning off that option removes individual signup.
If payment setup is incomplete, Open payment settings opens a new tab so the league form stays in place. Ask a group admin to complete setup if your role cannot change those settings. See Set up payments.
For Pay before the season starts, players save a card when they enter and the charge runs at the time you choose before the season. Set a registration closing date at least one hour before that charge. Review both the closing time and charge timing before publishing.
Publishing requires complete season dates, a supported format and complete divisions. After publication, use Manage league → Settings to edit the season.
Place individual players
Section titled “Place individual players”Open Manage league → Entries → Individual signups. Choose Place on a team for a player who is ready, then select a team in that player’s division. A placed player stays on the same individual signup and keeps the season price they accepted.
To change a placement, choose Move to another team and select another team in that division. Choose Return to pool and enter a reason when the player should wait for a new team. Their signup stays active, so you can place them again later.
For an unplaced signup you cannot use, choose Review closeout. The review shows whether that one signup can be ended now. Enter a reason to close an unfunded signup. If a payment, Group Credit, used benefit or Pay Later fee is involved, leave it active until its financial outcome is reviewed. A player already on a team must first be returned to the pool.
Review roster exits
Section titled “Review roster exits”Open Manage league → Entries to review a team and its roster. Choose Review removal for a team or player, read the effect on their place and payment, and enter a reason before confirming. A player who signed up individually cannot be removed through a team roster; return them to the individual pool first. If another player owns a separate fee, resolve that player’s payment before ending the team. Existing payment terms govern ordinary removal; exceptional Group Credit or refund decisions are handled separately.
