Schedule tournament matches
Publish the competition draw before assigning its schedule. A published draw and a published schedule are separate steps.
Choose how matches start
Section titled “Choose how matches start”Open Manage tournament → Competition → Schedule, then choose the stage you want to schedule.
| Choice | Use it when | What players see |
|---|---|---|
| At fixed times | Matches have dependable start and end times. | The scheduled time, location, and court. |
| After the previous match | Match length varies and each court runs in order. | The court opening time and the match’s place in that court’s order. |
With After the previous match, match length is a planning estimate. It helps Hop In Sports fit the draw into the available court window, but it is not a promised start time.
Add playing days and courts
Section titled “Add playing days and courts”For each playing day:
- Choose the date and the hours available for play.
- Choose a saved location.
- Select the courts or fields available during that window.
- Set the estimated match length, minimum rest, and turnover time when needed.
Choose Add playing day for each additional date. Use a separate playing day instead of creating one schedule window that crosses midnight.
If a new playing day falls outside the tournament’s current dates, select Extend tournament dates. The proposed date change appears in the draft and does not take effect until you publish it.
Prepare and publish
Section titled “Prepare and publish”Choose Prepare schedule. Review every scheduled and unscheduled match, location, court, conflict, and proposed date change. Resolve blocking issues, then publish the draft. Saving or preparing a draft alone does not change the schedule players can see.
Check the public page through View tournament → Schedule. Confirm that players can find the correct day, location, court, and start information.
Change a published schedule
Section titled “Change a published schedule”Open Edit or move selected matches under the published schedule. Select the matches, choose a destination day, and add a short reason players can understand. Hop In Sports includes dependent bracket matches in the preview when their timing also has to move.
Review and publish the change before treating it as final. Started and completed matches cannot move. If the destination extends the tournament, include the date extension in the preview. Use Updates for a broader weather, facility, or delay announcement.
Run the tournament
Section titled “Run the tournament”Use the runbook that matches the tournament:
Check in and record results
Section titled “Check in and record results”Use Participants → Check-in for attendance on tournament day. Check-in is separate from confirming the competitors used to prepare the draw.
Open Competition → Results to review matches and use the available result actions. Check the competitors and score before submitting. For a correction, use the match’s available correction workflow; do not rebuild the draw to change a recorded score.
Review remaining matches and outstanding issues before completing the tournament. Under Competition → Results, completion readiness shows any matches, stages, or scheduled activities that still need attention.
Help players find their competition
Section titled “Help players find their competition”The public tournament page contains pools or brackets, the schedule, and personal match information when available. Direct players there for the current competition, and use Updates for tournament announcements.
