Safety, blocking, and reporting
These controls are currently available in the Hop In Sports mobile app on iOS and Android. The web client does not currently expose the same blocking or reporting controls.
Block someone in a direct message
Section titled “Block someone in a direct message”-
Open the direct message
Open Messages and select the conversation with the person.
-
Open the conversation menu
Select the menu in the chat header. Choose Block user, then review the confirmation sheet.
-
Confirm the block
Confirm Block. The conversation shows You blocked this user and an Unblock action instead of the message composer.
Blocked users cannot send you messages or see your activity. Blocking is separate from muting: muting controls notifications for a conversation, while blocking changes who can contact you.
Unblock someone
Section titled “Unblock someone”You can unblock a person from either place:
- In the blocked conversation, select Unblock in the blocked-user banner.
- Open Profile → Settings → Blocked users, find the person, and select Unblock.
Review the confirmation before completing the action. The Blocked Users page shows the date each person was blocked and lets you retry if the list fails to load.
Report a message
Section titled “Report a message”The current mobile chat flow reports a received message, not a message you sent:
- Press and hold the received message to open its message actions.
- Select Report.
- Choose the reason that best describes the message: Spam, Harassment or bullying, Hate speech, Inappropriate content, Threats or violence, or Other.
- Select Submit Report.
The app confirms Report submitted after a successful submission. If the same message was already reported, it shows Already reported instead. A report is reviewed by Hop In Sports; do not assume that a report immediately removes content or blocks a person.
When to contact support
Section titled “When to contact support”Email support@hopinsports.com if you need help with a blocked account, a report result, or a safety concern. Include the minimum information needed to identify the conversation or account, and never send passwords, sign-in codes, full payment details, or government ID.
For immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
