Create an event

  1. Choose a sport and format

From the group, select Create Event. Choose the sport and format first so Hop In Sports can supply useful defaults for capacity and sport-specific options. Review every default before continuing.

  2. Set player expectations

Add skill guidance and any available participation format. Skill ranges help players self-select; they do not block a player from registering.

  3. Add the schedule and location

Set the date, start and end times, location, and capacity. Confirm the time zone and venue details before publishing.

  4. Configure registration

Decide whether the event is free or paid. Review guest access, the registration window, capacity, position-based registration when supported, and the payment or cancellation policy.

  5. Review and publish

Create the event, then open its detail page to check it as a player would. Share the event only after the important details and policy are correct.

The create and edit screens currently organize event details into these areas:

  • Sport and format
  • Title, cover image, and description
  • Skill-level range
  • Court type, gender, and rotation when the sport or format supports them
  • Start and end date/time, timezone, and location
  • General capacity or position-specific capacity
  • Registration open and close times
  • Guest access, guest limit, and whether guest names are required
  • Free or paid registration and payment collection timing

Some fields are format-specific. If a section is not shown for the selected sport or format, it is not available for that event.

Open the event from the group’s event list, then choose Edit Event on mobile or Edit Event from the web event actions menu. Review the current values before changing them. When you change dates, payment timing, capacity, or registration windows, check the effect on players who have already registered.

On mobile, selecting Cancel while there are unsaved changes asks whether to discard those changes. Choose Keep Editing to return to the form or Discard to leave without saving.

Canceling an event is separate from editing it. Open the event actions and choose Cancel Event, then review the confirmation sheet or dialog before confirming. Cancellation cannot be undone.

The confirmation shows the impact on the current event, including participants and waitlisted players. Participants are removed and notified. For paid events, review the refund information shown by the app before confirming; the mobile flow shows that participant payments will be refunded automatically.
