Disqualify an entry
Disqualifying removes an entry from the tournament for cause. It is an organizer action, and it is different from a player withdrawing on their own.
Open Manage tournament → Participants → Competitors and choose Disqualify on the entry.
Review the consequences first
Section titled “Review the consequences first”Disqualification always shows a preview before you commit. Review it — it describes:
- which future matches the entry is removed from,
- which matches become automatic outcomes, and
- the refund outcome the player will see.
The preview and the action use the same rules, so what you review is what runs.
Choose a reason and a refund outcome
Section titled “Choose a reason and a refund outcome”Enter why the entry is being disqualified. The reason is recorded with the entry.
If the entry has a collected payment, choose what happens to it:
| Option | What it records |
|---|---|
| Apply the refund policy | Follow the refund policy the tournament was set up with. |
| Full refund | You intend to refund this player in full. |
| No refund | The payment is kept. |
Tournament refunds are not automatic today. This choice records what should happen to a collected payment; it does not transfer money back on its own.
The default is Apply the refund policy. Choose deliberately — the outcome is immediate and cannot be undone.
What happens to matches
Section titled “What happens to matches”- Before competition starts, the entry simply leaves the field. No match results are created, and you can rebuild the draw without it.
- Once the tournament is active, any undecided match involving that entry becomes a forfeit. Matches that already have a submitted or confirmed result stay exactly as they were.
- Results are never deleted. Disqualification preserves the entry’s history, including matches it already played.
After a disqualification
Section titled “After a disqualification”The entry keeps its history but no longer counts as a current competitor. If the field changes meaningfully, review the latest competitor state before preparing or replacing competition, and check whether remaining matches need rescheduling.
A disqualified player who wants to return must be handled as a new entry, and only while registration is open and space is available.
